Madew Wines were established in 1980 by DR. DAVID MADEW who planted eight acres of vines at Queanbeyan in the Canberra district. Today the property is run by his son and daughter in law, who have planted new vines on a 150 hectare property at Lake St George 30 minutes drive north of Canberra. The remarkable aspect of the the vineyard is its elevation of 700 metres above sea level and its resultant extended ripening period. (Vintage occurs between mid April and early June!) This unusual terroir results in flavour filled wines of great delicacy.
An outstanding Riesling. Bright pale straw colour with green hue. Superb lifted nose of orange blossom and lime followed by end notes of ripe mandarin and pineapple. Generous palate flavours of ripe pineapple and ripe mandarin followed by distinct lime, lemon back palate. Excellent palate length with crisp acid finish and very long aftertaste of ripe mandarin, nectarine and lime.
