The creation of Heartland wines is a result of the collaborative effort of 5 very talented people who contribute their expertise in order to create a powerful new winemaking force. The team consists of Ben Glaetzer, Geoff Hardy, Scott Collett, John Pargeter and Grant Tilbrook. The Directors Cut is the flagship of the Heartland stable being produced from the very best grapes. The wine has been fermented on skins for 7 days and then prior to completing fermentation, pressed off into new 100% American oak hogsheads to complete the ferment.

An outstanding follow up to the 2002 Director's Cut and again a wine of great concentration. Opaque deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Superb perfumed nose of violets, vanilla, spice and liquorice allsorts. Magnificent palate flavours, with wonderful spicy blackberry and violet infusions overlaid with liquorice allsorts, vanilla, black pepper and plum. Velvet smooth tannins, giving the wine perfect balance. Exceptionally long aftertaste.
