Matured for 17 months in a combination of American and French oak of which 45% was new. Slightly cloudy in appearance the wine has an opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. The nose displays strong aniseed and stewed plum top notes followed by some fennel and blackberry nip characters. Still big and rich the palate is beginning to dry out and fades away towards the finish. Flavours of aniseed, blackberry nip and stewed plum are dominate with some emerging leathery characters following. Velvet smooth tannins. Moderate aftertaste of aniseed, blackberry nip, stewed plum and leather. Past its best.
Alc 15.5%

The 2002 Shiraz Springflat offers sumptuous aromas of loamy earth, bay leaves, blackberries, and currants. A medium to full-bodied, dense, crisp, elegant Shiraz with good acidity as well as vibrancy, it will drink well for 6-12 years.
