New Zealand together with Oregon in the USA have taken the Pinot Noir ‘high ground’ even in our opinion surpassing the quality of many a Burgundian example. The Terravin Vineyard is relatively new, being established in 1998 by Michael and Jo Eaton. Whilst only 6 ha in area, it is the new Burgundian clones which are creating the interest. Having outlined the background, let us state that we do not think that this wine represents the ultimate expression of the Terravin Vineyard due to the relative youthfulness of the vines.
Bright, crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. Medium body. The nose displays good varietal character of strawberry, cherry and spice. Moderate palate length and depth. Soft tannins. The power wave is missing, but await the outcome of future vintages.
Cellar 2-3 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 13%
