2002 Te Kairanga Pinot Noir

This wine has been matured for 10 months in French oak barriques, 20% of which are new. Translucent crimson colour with mauve hue. The wine displays a strong varietal nose, with notes of game, spice, cherry and strawberry emerging, followed by a hint of stalk. On the palate, flavours of spice, cherry and game are meshed with overtones of beetroot showing good varietal character, but with only moderate power. Fine grained tannins, followed by an aftertaste of cherry, spice and beetroot.
