The Serafino Winery, located on the site of McLarens on the Lake, belongs to the Maglieri Family. Serafino and his father purchased 50 hectares of woodland in McLaren Vale in 1967 and having cleared the land, established their first vineyard and winery. Many top wines emerged which caught the eye of Mildara Blass, who purchased the property in 1998. Today the family have re-established themselves with a 2000 tonne facility, with fruit being sourced from the family’s 300 acre vineyards. Winemaker Scott Rawlinson continues to produce multi award winning wines. An outstanding Cabernet that has been awarded the Winestate Trophy for the Cabernet of the Year, together with gold medals in Brisbane, Adelaide and the National Wine Shows. Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Superb Cabernet aroma of violets, blackcurrant, spice, cassis and cedar, finishing with a white pepper endnote. The palate continues to impress, with mouthfilling flavours of black pepper, blackcurrant, spice and cedar, followed by a hint of chocolate on the back palate. Very long aftertaste of black and white pepper.
