2002 Rosabrook Estate Cabernet Merlot

A very young wine that needs to be ‘locked up’ for a few years. The Cabernet Merlot has been released with a stelvin cap which is an increasing trend for red wines. Vibrant crimson mauve colour with purple hue. The nose reflects the youthful character of this wine with vibrant aroma of violets, spice and fresh liquorice over a dominant freshly crushed blackcurrant note. The palate reflects the youthful nature of this wine with primary fruit characteristics being dominant. Flavours of blackcurrant and earth emerge and are followed by a very dry and persistent tannin structure. Aftertaste of liquorice, blackcurrant and spice. The wine has had a small percentage of Cabernet Franc added to it, and has been matured in French and American oak for a short time.
