2002 Newton Unfiltered Merlot

The Newton winery pioneered unfiltered wines in the U.S. The vineyard is located in the Spring Mountain district which is a sub region of the Napa Valley, over-looking St Helena. Brick red colour with brick red hue. Medium body. Top note of mulberry, followed by spice, delivering a perfumed lift, followed by a blackcurrant end note. The palate displays excellent weight and depth of flavour, with spice and mulberry being dominant. Fine dry, slightly chalky tannins, The palate displays considerable power, with persistent mulberry and spice aftertaste.
