2002 Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz

Heathcote, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
$135. 00
Bottle
$1620.00 Dozen
Closure: Cork

This wine has more weight and a firmer tannin structure than previous releases of Jasper Hill and this is due to the drought conditions in the Heathcote District. Ron Laughton runs his operation biodynamically and without the assistance of irrigation. This wine bares some of the virtues of the process but also reflects the stress that the vines were put under.

Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Aroma of liquorice, spice and ripe plum followed by hints of cedar and blackberry. The palate has plenty of body with flavours of liquorice and confectionary emerging over a long spice, white pepper background. Fine quite dry firm tannins which persist well into the aftertaste.
Cellar 5-8 years (2008-2011)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

RATING: 93/100

VALUE: XXXX/5

Robert Parker's Review
Readers looking for a top-flight Shiraz with plenty of structure as well as loads of chocolatey black currant and berry fruit should check out Jasper Hill’s opaque purple-colored 2002 Shiraz Georgia’s Paddock. Dense, layered, and full-bodied, with loads of intensity as well as outstanding balance and purity, it should drink well for a decade.
