Isle of Mull, SCOTLAND
$240. 00
Bottle
$2880.00 Dozen
ABV: 53.5%
Another unexpected wood finish from Cooper's Choice - a well-aged, natural strength Ledaig finished in a Moscatel cask.

Tasting note: Ledaig is building a strong following as Tobermory's smokey alter ego. Deep gold in colour, this delivers the goods with bold, earthy peat forming the keynote. Brawny and full bodied, barley arrives thick and sweet, laced with chocolatey peat. The finish turns briney, maritime, sweet-yet-fresh with sticky date and dark chocolate carrying the aftertaste. Oozes Ledaigian personality. 53.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 318 bottles are on offer.

The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies pay homage to the fine barrel craftsmen and their important role in the Scotch Whisky industry. There are 3 types of casks commonly used in whisky maturation; the sherry butt, which holds about 500 litres, the hogshead which holds about 250 litres, and the barrel, 195 litres. These are mostly made of American oak which has already been used to mature Bourbon whisky.

In recent years it has become increasingly popular to “finish” mature malts and grains by resting them for a further short period in casks which have previously held other wines. Thus we can now have Scotch Whiskies finished in Port Pipes, various sherries, Madeira wines and even French wine casks. With Cooper's Choice, the range embraces the variety of flavours different casks contribute to single malts from around Scotland.
