2002 Clarendon Hills Blewitt Springs Vineyard Grenache (1500ml)

Clarendon, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$155. 00
Bottle
$1860.00 Dozen
Closure: Cork

The Grenache from the Blewitt Springs Vineyard is grown on the mid and lower slopes of the vineyard. The wine is historically full bodied in style, being produced from very low yielding vines.

Black crimson colour with purple hue. The nose is showing some restraint at this stage but will develop after bottling. Top notes of violets and spice emerge. The palate is generous with excellent weight and rich luscious mouthfeel. Blackpepper and white pepper flavours are very dominant and encase every corner of the palate. As with the previous vintage, the wine displays excellent length and persistence. The tannins are firmer, and will need time to integrate, yet they remain perfectly balanced. Exceptionally long white pepper, plum, spice aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years (2011-2013)

Robert Parker's Review
The 2002 Grenache Old Vines Blewitt Springs Vineyard exhibits candied cherry, kirsch liqueur, pepper, and licorice scents along with a Chateau Rayas-like raspberry component. Full-bodied, opulent, and rich, with seamless integration of acidity, wood, and tannin, this medium to full-bodied, gorgeously elegant, intensely flavored 2002 is strikingly complex as well as showy. It will provide immense pleasure over the next decade.
