- Closure: Cork
The Clarence Hill Vineyard was planted by the Curtis Family in 1973, and it appears that the family has winemaking connections that date back to 1471 – obviously not in Australia, but at a place called Cassino, Italy.
Very pale, water like colour. Fresh, aromatic nose with notes of unripe gooseberry, tropical fruit, spice and passionfruit emerging. The palate shows plenty of varietal character, with flavours of passionfruit, tropical fruit and ripe gooseberry evident. Crisp acid finish, followed by a very long aftertaste of ripe gooseberry and tropical fruit.
Retasted: October 2002
A well made, riper style of Sauvignon Blanc. Bright pale straw colour. The nose is delicate, with subtle aromas of spice, a hint of tropical fruit and confectionary and a faint, herbaceous end note. The palate has good weight, with flavours of tropical fruit and spice over a subtle herbaceous background. Soft acid finish.
