An outstanding Pinot Noir, produced from the best vineyards in the Cromwell area, Cainmuir, Bannockburn & Parkburn. The maturation cellars at Chard Farm are inspired by those of Burgundy and consist of bare earth floors with pits dug into them which are then filled with gravel. This has the effect of allowing the cellar to breathe as well as increasing humidity which results in reducing barrel evaporation. The Angel’s share has been calculated at around 12.5 litres per barrique, which according to Chard Farm corresponds to a loss of 4,800 litres of wine from their 400 barrel storage facility. The objective is to reduce the loss to 1,000 litres thus adding considerably to their bottom line.

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson mauve hue. Superb nose – aroma of violets, strawberry, anise with hints of beetroot and dark cherry. The palate has excellent weight, perfectly balanced fine dry tannins, with a touch of stalkiness appearing. Very long aftertaste of plum, strawberry and fresh liquorice.
