The grapes for this wine were grown on north facing slopes of the Cairnmuir terraces at Bannockburn, New Zealand. The wine has been matured for 12 months in French oak. Outstanding purple mauve colour with purple mauve hue. Showing great depth for a Pinot. Aroma of black cherries, cloves and spice followed by a touch of violet and anise as an end note. Mouth filling palate, with a slow, but evident power wave emerging. Flavours of plum, black cherry, followed by a very spicy back palate. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of liquorice, anise, black cherry and cloves.
