2002 was an exceptional Shiraz vintage in Coonawarra. The poor set during flowering resulted in low but highly concentrated yields, which were harvested at optimum ripeness in late March and early May. The wines have been matured for 18 months in a combination of new and old French and American oak. Barriques from Dargaud & Jaegle, AP Johns and Remond were used in order to create additional layers of complexity.
A CLASSY SHIRAZ. Opaque black crimson colour. Superb lifted nose with notes of vanilla, cedar, spice, blackberry and plum emerging. The palate is refined, reflective of the prolonged ripening period. Flavours of cedar, spice, plum, blackberry and vanilla fill the palate over layered by a white pepper back palate. The structure is refined, supported by fine grained tannins giving the wine it’s balance and some degree of elegance.
