Originally established as a vineyard in the 1860's, Attunga was later purchased by the Meller family. Since 1979 the Zwiersen family have been the owners. Traditionally the bulk of the fruit has been sold off to local winemakers. A small parcel has been set aside in recent years to make and market wine under the Attunga label. This is an outstanding wine. Opaque black crimson colour with deep purple hue. The nose displays strong varietal character, with aroma of vanilla, liquorice, plum, spice, confectionary and violets. Mouth filling palate, with flavours of plum, vanilla, liquorice allsorts and confectionary. Velvet smooth tannins followed by a very long aftertaste of plum, vanilla, confectionary, chocolate and liquorice allsorts.
