A very big Shiraz made by the Californian wine company, Kendall Jackson, operating in South Australia. Totally opaque, black purple colour. Superb ripe Shiraz nose with that big Aussie fruit bomb character that has become an international trademark. Aroma of violets, liquorice, blackberry, plum and vanilla fill the nose, followed by a faint tarry end note. The palate has the weight and concentration of a pressings wine. Monumental fruit structure, with massive plum, liquorice flavours to the forefront followed by a slightly tarry and warm black pepper back palate. Excellent use of oak with fine grained tannins and a very long aftertaste of black pepper, liquorice, plum and blackberry.
