Tasting Note: The 2001 Wolf Blass Reserve Chardonnay is a complex wine showing wonderful integration of fruit and oak. Traditionally made using several techniques such as barrel fermentation, malolactic fermentation and lees stirring, this is a layered flavoursome chardonnay. Aromas of grapefruit, peach and melon combine with a hint of toast from the high quality French oak. The well balanced palate is stylish and complex with a soft lingering finish.

Cellaring time: Will gain further richness and complexity with 2-3 years bottle age.

Viticulture: Select parcels of Chardonnay fruit were sourced exclusively from the cool climate Eden Valley region just to the east of the famous Barossa Valley. The 2001 vintage was very good due to early season rainfall that replenished water supplies and allowed for an even growing season. Warm conditions throughout December and January assisted in good fruit development. Vintage began two weeks early.
