MARSHAL CAFFYN and JOAN PITTENDRIGH established their boutique Pinot Noir vineyard in 1989, on 4 acres of well drained, steep red volcanic soil made up of basaltic lava deposited millions of years ago. A variety of clones were selected including MV6, P5V12, 114 & 115. The 2001 vintage produced fruit with exceptional concentration of flavour.

An outstanding Mornington Peninsula Pinot with very powerful and persistent flavour profile. The colour shows some age, with crimson colour and crimson brick red hue. The nose is pronounced with strong varietal notes emerging. Aromas of strawberry jam, hints of game, spice and white pepper. The palate has a very strong flavour wave, with the sort of power that is so sought after in pinot. Excellent weight & mouth feel, with strong strawberry jam, spice and anise flavours. Velvet smooth. Perfect balance, followed by a very long aftertaste.
