Christmas Day in Australia is inevitably hot and whilst real men and women like their reds big, may we suggest the Wildwood Pinot as an alternative. Big on flavour yet without the huge body of Shiraz and a great match with the Christmas Turkey. The 2001 vintage at Wildwood was a warm and dry vintage with low yielding crops resulting in small concentrated berries. The Pinot Noir was produced from 3 acres of Pinot vines planted in 1988. An excellent Pinot with strong varietal character. Medium body. Brick red colour with lifted notes of spice, plum and cherry, followed by a hint of violets and game. The palate has excellent weight and mouthfeel. Flavours of spice, cherry, leather, earth and spicy oak emerge. Velvet smooth tannins, perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of spice, cherry and plum. Stocks are limited.
