2001 Whistling Eagle Vineyard Eagles Blood Shiraz

Heathcote, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
$74. 99
Bottle
$899.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

Ian Rathjens has produced another exceptional Heathcote Shiraz with body and power reminiscent of the 1999 release. The major piece of frustration with this wine is its incredibly limited supply. We suggest you join his mailing list as our allocation seems to be getting smaller whilst demand has increased.

Intense black crimson colour with the degree of opacity that has become the norm from Heathcote Shiraz. Superb lifted nose with violets, blackberry and blackpepper very evident. The palate has colossal weight and a degree of pepperiness that is not easily replicated by other producers. Perfect balance with exceptionally long blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 15.0%

Other reviews... The 2001 Shiraz Eagle’s Blood appears to be the most promising of the first three vintages. Its opaque blue/purple color is accompanied by aromas of blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, and vanilla offered in a layered, sweet, exuberant full-throttle, full-bodied, opulent, delineated style. This impressive effort should be at its finest in 2-3 years, and last for 12-15. Readers should be on the look-out for this noteworthy new edition from Heathcote. 93 points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2003
