The first plantings of vines at Vasse River was in 1988. Very deep crimson, brick red colour with crimson brick red hue. Aroma of cedar and old leather, followed by hints of blackcurrant and liquorice. The palate is dominated by dry chalky tannins. Flavours of cedar and blackcurrant emerge with a hint of chocolate, blackcurrant and confectionary, and just a touch of leaf. Dry chalky tannins persist.
Cellar 2-3 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 13.7%

First tasted, January 2001:
An impressive wine. Totally opaque black crimson colour. The Cabernet component dominates this wine contributing to fine grained firmish dry tannins. Aroma of blackcurrant and spice followed by mulberry and truffle. Excellent balance. Aftertaste of blackcurrant, spice, toasted oak and dark chocolate.
