Silvano S. Samaroli is a foremost name in independent bottling and the first bottler of Scotch whisky outside the UK and Scotland, beginning in 1968. Some of the most famous and collectable whiskies in the world bear his name. After leaving the Samaroli company in 2008, Silvano still wanted to exercise his passion, releasing the Silvano S. Samaroli collection in 2016. Sadly, this was the first and last, as he died in February 2017.

Drawn from sherry Cask no. 92, this was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2016. The sherry influence is winey and rancio, almost battling with the peat of this buxom Port Charlotte.

Tasting note: [20ml sample] Stunning maritime depths to the bouquet / seashore merging with wet wool, brine, smoked dates and heady vanillas. Creamy-yet-fresh, with a candied citrus edge to the sweet malt. An expansive, prolonged delivery with a superb crescendo of sooty peat, lanolin and Fisherman's Friend at the finish. Super length. Like a first-rate Octomore ,with absolutely no rough edges. Very special. 54.3% Alc./Vol. 300 bottles. Extremely limited stocks.
