This is an outstanding Chardonnay that has not seen oak, however, do not think for a moment that this is your typical unwooded Aussie Chardonnay. Winemaker, Tamara Irish is obsessed with Burgundy and her tiny vineyard produces exceptionally concentrated wines. This wine draws its inspiration from Chablis from a warm year, like 2000. Brilliant pale straw colour. Superb Chablis inspired nose with a hint of confectionary, subtle biscuit and a touch of mineral and flint, but without austerity. Mouth filling palate flavours with subtle lees and confectionary characteristics. There is palate weight as well as delicacy with a degree of refinement rarely seen in Australian Chardonnay. The palate has great persistence with perfect acidity. Some spice flavours emerge followed by subtle biscuit and lees. A superb food wine. Stocks are limited.
