2001 Mount Trio Shiraz

Mount Trio Vineyard is located due east of Mount Barker in Porongurrup. Vines were first planted in 1989 with an additional fifteen acres planted around 1995. The 2001 growing season was perfect with no unusual weather patterns eventuating from Northern cyclones. The 2001 Shiraz was matured for eighteen months in new French oak hogsheads.

Tasting Notes: Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of spice, plum, truffle and stewed fruit, followed by notes of mocha and earth. The palate is equally impressive with weight, power and structure. Flavours of spice, plum, and liquorice followed by black pepper. Fine dry tannins – excellent length, with very long aftertaste of stewed fruit, plums mocha, liquorice and white pepper.
Cellar 4-5 years (2007-2008).
