2001 Mitchelton Airstrip Marsanne Roussanne Viognier

There has been considerable experimentation with Rhone varietals in Australia, with many outstanding examples being produced. Bright straw colour, with pale green film. The nose is impressive, displaying lifted aroma of spice followed by notes of confectionary, musk and rose petal, and a surprisingly delicate white pepper top note. The palate flavour profile takes a twist, with grapefruit and lemon flavours to the forefront, and losing the exotic notes of the rose. The palate lacks depth. The acidity is still holding up. And yet another twist occurs with the white pepper re emerging on the aftertaste.
