Sourced from the Langhorne Creek Metala vineyard, which includes the original 12-hectare vineyard first planted in 1891, this wine won the inaugural Jimmy Watson Trophy in 1962. The Metala brand, including the current label, was the brainchild of the late Brian Dolan, father of current winemaker and 2000 Barossa Winemaker of the Year - Nigel Dolan.

A rich, deep red with purple hues in colour. The Metala Shiraz Cabernet shows intense aromas of blackcurrant, plum and cherry with subtle hints of spice and pepper from the Shiraz fruit. On the rich full-bodied palate, sweet blackberry and licorice flavours combine with fine tannins in a smooth finish with excellent length.
