- Closure: Cork
This is a single vineyard Pinot Gris, having been grown on the Hutchison property in Marlborough. The wine under went a cool fermentation on wild yeasts, which accounts for some of the more unusual aromas and flavours that the wine delivers. Deepish straw colour with a faint pink hue. The nose displays an unusual aroma twist, with notes of yeast lees, exotic fruits, pear and smoked nuts. On the palate the profile is also a little unexpected, with flavours of smoky lees, pear, spice and a touch of caramel. Excellent weight and mouthfeel. Clean acid finish, followed by flavours of ripe pear, yeast lees and paw paw. Cellar 1-2 years (2003-2004) Alc/Vol 12%
