- Closure: Cork
Fruit for this wine has been sourced from the Wairau and Brancott Valleys in Marlborough, with 5% of the wine undergoing barrel fermentation and 15% put through malolactic fermentation. Brilliant pale straw colour. The nose displays great intensity, with distinct herbaceous, unripe gooseberry top notes followed by confectionary and spice end notes. The palate displays a very high acid back bone which overshadows strong unripe gooseberry, herbaceous palate flavours. The acidity is too dominant, leaving a hard green unripe fruit aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2003-2004) and hope that the wine softens.
