2001 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Merlot

A wine that is drinking well, having been matured for 19 months in French oak barriques. Brick red colour, showing signs of development. Medium body. Aroma of leather, spice, truffle and cedar, offering a refined sniff followed by an earthy end note. On the palate flavours of leather, spice, prune and cedar emerge. Very long earthy cedar plum aftertaste of long spicy white pepper characteristics kicking in at the very end. The tannins are soft and very fine grained
