2001 Kathy Lynskey Wines Wairau Peak Merlot

An outstanding Merlot. Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Excellent nose with scented notes of violets, spice, mulberry and blackcurrant. The palate flavours are explosive with generous layers of mulberry and spice followed by a chocolate aftertaste. Excellent length and velvet smooth tannin structure – showing a degree of softness that has great immediate appeal, although the wine will continue to age. Very long aftertaste of mulberry and spice.
