2001 Huia Brut

A superb Sparkling wine, made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The mousse is impressive, filling the cap of the base wine. Fine bead, with excellent persistence. Deep straw/pale gold colour. The base wine has been fermented in French oak. High, toast nose, showing strong yeast autolysis, followed by toasted oak and roast almond. The palate flavour profile is generous. Layers of roast almond, yeast lees and toast. Excellent length and persistence. Long aftertaste of yeast lees, roast almond and a hint of citrus.
