First tasted, October 2004:
The most interesting wines from Gapsted have turned out to be the Durif, Saperavi and the Tempranillo. The Tempranillo, a Spanish grape variety, displays very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of confectionary and black cherry, followed by a hint of leather and cinnamon. Full bodied palate with excellent concentration of flavour. Raspberry black cherry, spice, ripe plum and chocolate flavours emerge, supported by fine dry and persistent tannins, however, they remain in balance. Very long aftertaste of spice black cherry and chocolate.
