This wine is drinking near its peak. Very deep brick red colour with brick red hue. Delicately perfumed nose of spice, confectionary and vanilla showing good bottle development. The palate has developed complex layers of stewed plum and spice with black pepper emerging in the background over re-emerging layers of stewed plum and spice on the back palate. Fine grained tannins. Very spicy aftertaste with stewed plum, liquorice and black pepper.
Cellar 1-2 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 15%

First tasted, June 2003:
Produced from vines planted in 1975 alongside the St. Jakobi Lutheran Church at Lyndoch, the wine was matured for 24 months in a combination of new and older French and American oak. Very deep crimson colour with mauve hue. Superb nose of violets, vanilla and cedar followed by an end note of liquorice and a subtle hint of earth. Mouthfilling palate with generous weight. The blackpepper flavours fill the mouth and are enhanced by layers of plum and spice. Excellent palate length. Perflanced fine tannins and a very long aftertaste of plum, cedar and dark chocolate.
Cellar 4-5 years (2007-2008)
Rating: 94/100
