Dominique Portet sources his Heathcote grapes from a vineyard which is entirely on Cambrian earth, situated on the West face of Mount Camel. Very deep crimson colour with crimson hue. The nose is exotic with top notes of mint, exotic spices followed by end notes of animal, blackcurrant and confectionary. Mouthfilling palate with exotic flavours of blackcurrant, spice and liquorice allsorts. The oak is well balanced with the fruit. The tannin structure is typical of the kind of tight knit wine that was the hallmark of Portet whilst he was Taltarni’s winemaker. Very fine, very dry tannins which are quite persistent. Very long aftertaste of anise, blackcurrant and spice.
