2001 Domaine de Durban Muscat de Beaumes de Venise

Domaine de Durban is regarded as the finest producer of Muscat Beaumes de Venise. The 2001 release is lighter in colour than the previous vintage, but should deepen further with bottle age. Bright deep straw colour, with pale gold hue. Classic aroma of honey, spice, raisins and ripe sultana. The palate has a luscious mouthfeel and creamy texture, with flavours of honey, very ripe sultana and dried raisins. However, whilst it is wonderfully sweet there is a dryness there which is enhanced by a hint of bitterness on the back palate, which acts as a counter balance to the richness. Clean acid finish, followed by a long dried raisin spice and honey aftertaste.
