- Closure: Cork
Brilliant straw colour with pale straw hue. Aroma of melon and fig followed by yeast lees and a touch of honeycomb. The palate displays an excellent secondary flavour profile with yeast lees and honeycomb, followed by a hint of toast, almonds and cashews. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of honey, honeycomb, biscuit and hazelnut.
Cellar 3-4 years (2007-2008)
FIRST TASTED: October 2002
A subtle wine that will need some time to gain complexity through bottle age. Bright straw colour. Aroma of biscuit, cashew and hazelnut with subtle yeast lees end note. The palate displays moderate length with flavours of hazelnut, cashew and biscuit emerging, followed by a hint of citrus on the back palate. Clean acid finish, followed by a cashew biscuit aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years. (2004-2006)
Robert Parker's Review
The 2001 Chardonnay is a dead-ringer for a classy premier cru Chassagne-Montrachet. A beautiful bouquet of hazelnuts, buttery lemons, pears, allspice, and vanilla emerges from this richly textured, medium to full-bodied effort. With terrific acidity, fine mid-palate intensity, and a long finish, it should drink well for 3-4 years, perhaps longer.
