Grapes for this wine were grown in the Dog Point and Godfrey Road vineyards in the lower Brancott and Fairhall sub-regions, where soils are typically even and free draining with some clay content. All vines are trained to the Scott Henry trellis system. A combination of shoot positioning with shoot and bunch thinning, produced a crop of 7 tonnes/ha on average.

Redolent of ripe Morello cherries, violets and spice, the CLOUDY BAY PINOT NOIR 2001 is exquisitely fragrant. The intensely varietal palate shows supple fine tannins with layers of red fruit, toasty oak, savoury earthy characters and a long seamless finish.
