Cellar: 8 - 10 Years (2010-2012)
ABV: 13.5%

The Moritz vineyard Syrah is produced from 25 year old dry land farmed vines, which in Clarendon Hills terms is a young vineyard. Yields are kept low at 2.5 tonnes per acre, and the wines are matured in 70% new oak and 30% one year old French oak.

If the Liandra Syrah draws parallels and inspiration with Côte Rotie, then the Moritz Syrah can be compared with Cornas or Hermitage.

Tasting Note: Totally opaque, purple, crimson and black colour. The nose is a touch restrained and displays aromas of spice, liquorice, plum, violets, confectionery and a hint of ‘animal’. The palate structure is tight, with flavours of sweet plum, blackcurrant, liquorice and meat extract emerging. The tannin structure is firm and dry, adding to the tight knit qualities of the wine, and somewhat shortening the length of flavour profile of the palate. The wine needs time to develop.
Cellar 8-10 years (2010-2012).
