Ninety five percent of the Côtes du Rhône appellations production is red wine. Over 24 different grape varieties are allowed in the production of wine in this region, however, the major red grape varieties used are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault.
This wine has excellent colour and palate weight. Very deep purple crimson mauve colour. Superb lifted nose, displaying a degree of youthfulness. Aromas of confectionary and liquorice allsorts, followed by hints of violets and cedar. The palate has as Aussie style juicy character, with flavours of blackberry, liquorice and spice followed by a confectionary background. Fine grained soft tannins with a long liquorice raspberry spice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years (2005-2006).
