Chateau Briatte is located in the heart of Sauternes district in the Village of Preignac.  It is hardly surprising that the Chateau produces outstanding botrytis wines given that it is surrounded by prestigious Chateaux such as d’Yquem, Suduiraut and Lafaurie-Peyraguey.

The vineyard consists of 11 hectares which have been planted to a density of 6600 vines per hectare with the average age of vines being 35 years. As with many Sauternes vineyards the grape composition consists with 90% Semillon , 5% Muscadelle and 5% Sauvignon Blanc.  The Muscadelle component gives the wine an added aromatic dimension.  The botrytis establishes itself between late September and early November, with the grapes being hand picked in 3 tries (picking dates). Fermentation takes place in cement and stainless steel vats, after completion the wine is matured for 18 months in oak.

Brilliant deep gold colour with gold hue. Superb lifted notes of honey, spice and apricot. Rich and powerful, luscious palate flavours of tinned apricots and honey over a spicy, light caramel background. Perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of honey, tinned apricot and caramel.
