2001 Cape D'Estaing Shiraz

A big red from Kangaroo Island which has been matured for 17 months in French and American oak. Totally opaque black purple colour. Superb nose with aroma of vanilla, spice and violets followed by a hint of truffle and earth as end notes. The palate flavours are generous and reflect the excellent vintage conditions. Flavours of very ripe plum and liquorice are dominant over a strong blackpepper background. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance with very long plum, blackpepper and spice aftertaste.
