We have tasted this wine previously as a pre release sample, and whilst it is a good red it had little varietal character. The wine has now had the chance to rest and come together in the bottle, however our opinion remains unchanged. Translucent brick red colour with brick red hue. Medium body. Aroma of toasted oak, plum, spice and prune. On the palate, the velvet smooth tannins provide the wine with a silky texture, however the Pinot character is not evident. Liquorice and plum flavours emerge. Very good length and balance, with very long aftertaste of spice, liquorice and plum.

First Tasted: January 2003
A very well made full bodied soft red, but at the time of tasting, which was pre-release, it was hard to discern any Pinot aroma or flavour, which surprised us. Bright crimson colour, with crimson hue. Subdued nose, with aroma of ripe plum, spice and prunes. The palate has plenty of weight, and a very generous ripe fruit flavoured mouthfeel. Flavours of rich ripe plums, prunes, spice and liquorice – very spicy, with spice flavour building, displaying good Pinot flavour wave. Velvet smooth tannins, followed by long aftertaste of liquorice and ripe cherries.
