Winemaker Andrew Millis is an intense fellow, who is also secretary of the Heathcote District Winegrowers Association. His property is located on western slopes between Mt. Pleasant and Mt. Camel, twenty kilometres north of Heathcote and lies on the rare Cambrian soil that is so highly sought after in the district. For a long time Heathcote has been synonymous with Shiraz although these days winemakers are planting more varieties of grapes, including Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, so it hardly comes as a surprise that Merlot flourishes in the district.

This is a serious Merlot with considerable palate structure and grip, as distinct from the very soft styles that are more commercially produced. Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of mulberry, spice, violets and blackcurrant with just a trace of mint. Mouth filling palate structure with flavours of spice and mulberry over a blackcurrant background.  Fine firm dry tannins, excellent balance, followed by a very long aftertaste of truffle, spice and blackcurrant.
Cellar 4-5 years (2006-2007)
Alc/Vol 13.5%
