2001 Ballast Stone Shiraz

Produced from grapes grown on the "Cottage Block" and matured in 75% American oak and 25% French oak. Opaque black, crimson colour with deep crimson/purple hue. The nose is impressive with aromas of spice, liquorice all-sorts, blackcurrant and violets. The palate has excellent weight with very ripe fruit flavours well integrated with the toasted oak. Flavours of liquorice, blackberry and blackpepper over a vanilla background. Firmish, dry tannins, perfect balance followed by an aftertaste of black pepper, plum and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years. (2005-2006)
