2001 Ballast Stone Petit Verdot

The grapes were grown on the Gums Vineyard and the resultant wine was fermented for fifteen months in French and American oak hogsheads. Fantastic colour! Totally black/purple with excellent glass cling. Superb nose with aroma of violets, vanilla and liquorice allsorts. The palate takes a turn, displaying flavours of liquorice strap and mocca over a bitter dark chocolate background. Firmish tannins followed by an aftertaste of bitter dark chocolate, dark plum and firmish tannins still persisting.
