2001 Arakoon Doyen Shiraz

If you prefer a low alcohol red, then this wine is not for you. An extraordinary super ripe wine with an alcohol content of 16.5% and at this level one would expect a dry vintage port style, however, this is far from it. This is the second vintage of Doyen and reflects the weight and power of the first vintage.

Totally opaque black crimson purple colour. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, violets and spice with blackcurrant and blackpepper end notes – a superb perfumed sniff! On the palate an explosion of concentrated flavours, yet without a trace of heat or jaminess. Totally mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, spice, blackpepper and vanilla, and yet perfectly balanced! Aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice and blackpepper.
