Annie Wayman was a legend in the Clare Valley. She could always be relied upon to bring along sandwiches and a warm drink to harvesters and pruners in the local vineyards. One fateful day, her horse and cart got bogged next to one of the area's best vineyards-thus Annie's Lane was born. Wines form this and surrounding vineyards have appeared under the Annie's Lane label since 1996 and have become a huge hit with consumers and critics
The majority of the fruit for this wine was sourced from established Clare Valley vineyards, The remainder was carefully selected from the premium regions of Eden valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.
This wine was made from unclarified juice which was left to settle, then racked off lees, before a portion was barrel fermented in new French oak barrels. The remainder was fermented in refrigerated stainless tanks before maturation in a combination of French and American oak.
Tasting Note: Deep and vivid in colour, this wine displays a lifted bouquet of white peaches, nectarines with subtle cashew nut aromas. Medium bodied, the wine displays classic 'peaches & cream' chardonnay flavours with lovely up-front fruit weight and complex oak derived characters. Drinking beautifully now, but would benefit form up to three years of bottle age.
Alcohol: 12.8%
