The 2001 Andrew Garrett Chardonnay was produced from fruit sourced from South Australia’s premium Chardonnay growing regions, including McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek.
Fruit was selected from South Australian vineyards, including McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, known to produce grapes that provide the ripe, full flavoured Chardonnay characters preferred by the winemaker. The decision to blend wine from different regions has produced a classic Australian Chardonnay - rich fruit characters balanced with elegant oak.
Following crushing and de-stemming, the wine was fermented in French and American oak. A portion of the final blend underwent malo-lactic fermentation to add complexity and creaminess to the palate.
This is a rich and complex wine. The colour is a brilliant mid straw showing vibrant green hues. Tropical aromas of peach and melon are supported by a touch of spicy, cedary oak. The palate is full-bodied, rich and complex with a creamy texture and varietal Chardonnay flavours. The finish is long, with an excellent balance of all characters in harmony.
