This is a very interesting Zinfandel, made from old vines by a Californian Winemaker. Bright crimson colour with mauve hue. Aroma of spice, plum and liquorice followed by a spicy end note. The palate weight is not as generous as that of the previous vintage, but none the less delivers plenty of flavour. Spice, plum and blackberry flavours are layered over a background of black pepper, spice and liquorice. The tannin structure is quite dry, but balanced to the fruit. Long aftertaste of plum, stewed fruit, blackberry and vanilla.
